ROSEMARY M. ALLEN-HATCHER

ROSEMARY M. ALLEN-HATCHER

Dec. 22, 1932 – March 15, 2024

Rosemary M. Allen-Hatcher, 91, of Alpena, entered into eternal rest on March 15, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. She was a kind, caring, and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend that will be dearly missed.

Rosemary was born on Dec. 22, 1932, to the late Leo and Katherine (Andrzejewski) Detloff in Alpena. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. On June 26, 1954, she joined hands in marriage to Cpl. Richard L. Allen Sr. and raised a family together until he preceded her in death in 1974. Rosemary was a home maker by trade and a phenomenal one at that. On Nov. 1, 1986, she married Harold W. Hatcher and was married for 6 years until he preceded her in death in 1992.

Rosemary worked at Alpena Public Schools for many years as a cafeteria aide, which she enjoyed dearly. There were many things in life that Rosemary enjoyed such as being outdoors, quilting, embroidery, singing, bingo, and playing cards. But nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family.

She is survived by her five children, Dr. Christine (Dr. David) Jackson of Houston, Texas, James Allen of Houston, Texas, John (Julie) Allen of Alpena, David (Sheryl) Allen of Georgia, and Richard (Elissa) Allen of Alpena, twelve grandchildren, Alex Jackson, Maegan Brege, Matthew Allen, Jessica Knudsen, Janessa Chavez, Jamie Allen, Daniel Allen, Ashley Wheelock, Kayla Dusterhoft, Brianna Storms, Robert DesJardins, and Kristie DesJardins, 15 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, siblings, Mary Ann Klee, Barbara Gibbons, and Paul Detloff, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Kathleen DesJardins, son-in-law Darell DesJardins, and her brothers, Donald, Leon, and Frank.

Family will receive friends for visitation at Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a parish prayer service and rosary starting at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Tyler Bischoff as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to MediLodge of Alpena Activities Fund. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to MediLodge for the compassionate care that was provided. Online condolences may be registered at www.karpushuntercares.com.
