GARY LEE DeROSIA

Gary “Cook” Lee DeRosia, 83, of Alpena, passed away on March 24, 2024, at his home.

Gary was born in Alpena on Nov. 4, 1940, to the late Harry and Elsie (Grosinsky) DeRosia. He served in the United States Army. On Sept. 6, 1969, he married Yvonne (Tripp) Swift. Gary was a supervisor at Abititi for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pinochle with his brothers and nephews. He enjoyed carving the turkeys for Thanksgiving meals at the Friendship Room.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne, five children, Linda (Dale) Dubie, Robert Swift, Larry (Cindy) Swift, Jeffery (Lina) Swift, Dennis (Laura) Swift; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Robert DeRosia; brother-in-law, Fred Weber; sister-in-law, Fran DeRosia; several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Swift; siblings, Helen DeRosia, Lila Havermahl, Mary Lou Webber, Clarence DeRosia, Kenneth DeRosia, Paul DeRosia and Eli DeRosia.

Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. with military honors at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Paul Lutheran Church – Alpena on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Shipman officiating.

Inurnment: Hillman/Rust Twps. Cemetery
