BARBARA HAYES CHURCH

BARBARA HAYES CHURCH

Oct. 16, 1962 – March 11, 2024

In loving memory of Barbara Hayes Church, 61, a beacon of love, kindness, and grace, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family during the early morning hours of March 11, 2024. Barbara faced a courageous battle against cancer with remarkable strength and dignity. Though this challenge touched her life, it never defined her nor did she ever complain. She continued to embrace each day with grace, love, and an eternal spirit that inspired all who knew her.

Barbara was born on Oct. 16, 1962, in Alpena, to Eugene and Dixie Hayes. Her main purpose throughout her life would be a steadfast devotion to her family. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to nurturing her daughter, Zoë Church, instilling in her the values of empathy, resilience, and integrity. Her home was a sanctuary of love, where laughter rang freely and hearts overflowed with joy.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter, Zoë Church, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her cherished mother, Dixie Hayes, who provided her with unwavering love and support throughout her journey. Additionally, she leaves behind her three devoted brothers, Paul Hayes, Greg Hayes, and Ken Hayes, who stood by her side through thick and thin.

In addition to her immediate family, Barbara is survived by her dear son-in-law, Hunter Thayer. Together, Zoë and Hunter will continue to honor Barb’s memory and legacy of love. Barb is also survived by Thomas Skiba, her devoted boyfriend, whose unconditional love and companionship brought her great joy.

In her final journey, Barbara finds comfort in reuniting with her husband, Thomas Church, of 28 years in heaven where they can now be together in eternal peace. Additionally, Barb finds solace in reuniting with her beloved father, Eugene Kenneth Hayes Sr. Together they will watch over us from above, their love shining down as guiding stars in the night sky.

Barbara would want us to celebrate her life by cherishing the beautiful memories we shared together. Instead of tears, let us honor her by recalling the laughter, love, and joy she brought into our lives. May her legacy of love and happiness continue to inspire us all.

Forever in our hearts, Barbara Church will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
