HARRY JAMES KAUTZ

Harry James Kautz, 88, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2024, at Turning Brook Retirement Community following a long battle with cancer.

Harry was born in Hubbard Lake on June 16, 1935, to the late Adolph and Freida (Minke) Kautz. He married Judith MacKenzie on Aug. 24, 1957. She preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2018. He worked as an engineer at Allen Bradley for his entire 30-year career. Harry enjoyed family and friends, traveling with Judy throughout their marriage, and their home on Long Lake. He loved many hobbies, especially football, golf, baseball and being an alumnus of the University of Michigan.

Surviving are his daughter, Suzanne Kautz; sister, Shirley MacKie, many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kautz was preceded in death by a son, Steven J. Kautz; seven siblings, Gertrude (Harold) Doe, Lorraine (Charles) Johnson, Ruth (Ralph) Boboltz, Elmer (Jean) Kautz, Eldon (Ruth) Kautz, Edmund Kautz, Leonard (Shirley) Kautz; and brother-in-law, Robert MacKie.

Memorial visitation will take place at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon with the Rev. Thomas Orth officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends Together or Grace Lutheran Church.
