Geoffrey Allen Bak, 43, of Traverse City, entered into eternal life on Feb. 15, 2024.
The youngest of four children, Geoff was born on Feb. 25, 1980, in Monroe, to Larry and Connie Bak. He grew up in Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School before attending Michigan State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. He attended Alpena Community College where he studied to become a Registered Nurse.
Geoff, also known as Geo by his professional colleagues, found his calling as a Cardio Thoracic ICU nurse working at Munson Medical Center and as a travel nurse on various assignments including on the Big Island of Hawaii. He served his patients with compassion and humor throughout his ICU and ER assignments.
In his free time, he loved the Traverse Area beaches, the Bay, and enjoyed snorkel diving with his cousins and friends in Elk Lake and at North Bar. He also enjoyed hanging out with his niece and nephew.
Geoff will be missed by his parents Larry and Connie Bak; sister Anne Bak Marine; brothers Michael and Rob; niece Amelia; nephew Alex; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles who he delighted in making laugh whenever possible.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on March 1 beginning at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. followed by family sharing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 2 at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Old Mission Peninsula.
Memorial contributions in his honor may be directed to Addiction Treatment Services/Traverse City. Envelopes will be available at all services.
