EUGENE ROY JASMAN

Jan. 22, 1937 – Feb. 23, 2024

Eugene Roy Jasman, 87, of Alpena, passed away on Feb. 23, 2024, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

Eugene was born on Jan. 22, 1937, in Alpena, to the late Gilbert and Bessie (Gohl) Jasman. He married Dolores Losinski on June 18, 1960. She preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2018. Eugene was well known around Alpena, as he never wanted to live anywhere else. He left town when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was always a proud Marine. He returned home to Alpena after his duty and began work at Fletcher Paper Company, retiring in 2000. Known for his red hair in his youth, friends called him Red.

Eugene loved Westerns and this began when he was very young. Inspired by “Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry his parents named him and his twin sister Eugene and Audrey. Eugene was active in sports from the time he was young. He played football in high school and enjoyed playing softball well into retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Eugene was a member of All Saints of Alpena and the Marine Corps League. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his five children: William Jasman, Cheryl (Andy) Pozniak, Julie Quantz, Jennifer (Steven) Sherman, Michael (Evonne) Jasman; nine grandchildren: Amanda, Hanna, Edward, Zachary, Tabetha, Tairah, Rose, Raina, Mary; two siblings Daniel (Sally) Jasman, Trudy Sulejman; and brother-in-law John Gralewicz.

He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Kyle Stack; son-in-law Kenneth Quantz; siblings, Dorothy Ransom, Harvey Jasman, Virginia Gralewicz, Bertha Hall, Orville Jasman, Charles (Gib) Jasman, Shirley Gamache, Phyllis Corwin, his twin Audrey Moore, and Diane Gralewicz.

Visitation will be at Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. with military honors at 5 p.m. by VFW Alpena Post 2496 and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
