Roy Michael Wekwert Sr., 85, of Alpena passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Roy was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Alpena to the late Stanley and Barbara (Brozowski) Wekwert. He served in the Army National Guard, sailed on the Great Lakes, and worked as a meat cutter until his retirement in 2000. Roy processed deer for many years. He was a member of All Saints Parish and active member of Knights of Columbus past Grand Knight, 4th degree. Roy enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks, and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Sally of 64 years; five children, Roy (Karen) Wekwert, Denise Schuch, Wayne Wekwert, Renee (Kevan) Rogers, Mary (Jason) Trudgen; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Stanley (Nelda) Wekwert, Theresa Tadajewski, Shirley Conner; two sisters-in-law, Kay Wekwert and Carol Wekwert.
Roy was preceded in death by six siblings, Silvia Robertson, Evelyn Wood, Anna Hincka, Leonard Wekwert, Eugene Wekwert, and Donald Wekwert.
Visitation will take place Tuesday at Bannan Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. with Military Honors at 5 p.m. by Alpena V.F.W. Post 2496, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Color Corp honor guard from 6 p.m. until the time of the parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Aloysius Okpala officiating.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
