Phyllis Ann Monette, 92, of Alpena passed away on Jan. 25, 2024, at Medilodge - Alpena.
Phyllis Ann Allain was born on Sept. 5, 1931, to Frederick and Vina (Prevo) Allain in Flint. After her father's death, the family moved to Herron when her mother married Otis Mills.
Phyllis married Clyde Monette on June 4, 1976. Clyde preceded her in death on March 15, 1988. Phyllis was an accomplished artist. She loved to paint, crochet, cross stitch, and do ceramics. Her beautiful work was shared with family and friends. Many of her pieces took the Grand Champion Award at the Alpena County Fair.
Phyllis worked for 18 years at Detroit Gasket, two years at Werth Laundry, and 25 years at Fisher Big Wheel. After "retiring" she could be found demonstrating products in various stores in the area.
Phyllis is survived by three brothers, Gene Mills, Arnie (Sandy) Mills, A. John (Kathie) Mills; two stepchildren, Debbie (Garnet) Cramer, David Monette, three step-grandchildren Robert, Alicia, Michelle; step-great-granddaughter; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, four brothers: Irving Allain, Louis Allain, Otis Mills, Jr and Arlyn Mills, three sisters: Cecelia (Allain) Rouleau, Dorothy (Allain) Scott and Jane (Mills) Matthes and three sisters-in-law: Claire Allain, Antoinette Allain, Marius Mills; three brothers-in-law: Ernest Rouleau, James Scott and Terry Matthes.
Visitation will take place on Thursday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at noon with the Rev. Tyler Bischoff officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to All Saints of Alpena.
