MEAGHAN YOCKEY-DALESKI
Meaghan Yockey-Daleski
April 29, 1966 – Jan. 10, 2024
Meaghan Yockey-Daleski passed away peacefully in her home on Jan. 10, 2024, after succumbing to her long struggle with kidney cancer.
On April 29, 1966, Meaghan was born as the youngest and only daughter to William and Margaret (O’Donnell) Yockey. Meaghan was the joy of her mother’s life having raised four boys prior to her birth. Meaghan was a lifelong resident of Alpena and loved her city and participated in many of the parades, concerts, and events, her favorite being the Chocolate Extravaganza. She so looked forward to the time she spent with her nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews who affectionately referred to her as Aunt MeMe.
Meaghan was a 1984 graduate of Alpena High School, she attended Seana Heights College and graduated from Michigan State University. After graduation she worked at Fletcher Paper Co., NEMSCA, and as a pharmaceutical packaging representative. In 2009, she started her own company in the cosmetic packaging industry as a headhunter. Meaghan didn’t have to solicit clients, or candidates. They sought out her services, because she had earned a reputation of being one of the best in the business. Meaghan was honored to receive an award in New York City as the #1 headhunter in the cosmetic packaging industry.
Growing up Meaghan spent summers alongside the pool of the Alpena Country Club while her mother played golf. She would say golf was a silly game that she would never play. Then in 1987 she met her lifelong companion and loving husband Mike Daleski who in addition to his many other talents was a single digit handicap, and suddenly golf wasn’t a silly game anymore. She became an avid golfer. Mike and Meaghan did everything together. They spent much time at the Bay Athletic Club, fall weekends at Duck Camp with her many childhood friends, and family weekends at the Doctors Club. With the same passion they had for each other they loved dogs and children, cooking new recipes together and music. During her illness she even became an avid Lions fan. Meaghan had an infectious laugh and additionally, she had a big impact on those around her.
Meaghan was preceded in death by her parents William & Margaret (O’Donnell) Yockey, and her brother Francis (Frank) Yockey. She is survived by her husband Mike Daleski, her brothers William, Kevin and Claude Russel (CR) Yockey. Her father and mother in-law Fred and Phyllis (Pelleran) Daleski, her in-laws Tim and Karen (Daleski) Hansen, Mark and Jackie (Matash) Daleski, Sharon (Daleski) Socia, Fred Daleski, Craig Daleski, Tony and Angie (Daleski) VanDongen.
