JON THOMAS JOHNSON

Jon Thomas Johnson, 70, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at his home in Alpena.

Jon Thomas Johnson was born and raised in Oscoda, Michigan on Dec. 20, 1953, to the late Gaston and Doris (England) Johnson, his stepfather, Roger Thomas Favre, and grandparents, Harry and Mary (Soucie) England.

Attended GRCC in Grand Rapids, Michigan and ACC in Alpena, Michigan. Jon played recreational sports and was especially fond of basketball and baseball. He often gathered neighborhood kids to play softball on the beach at home in Oscoda or at local community locations. He was an avid bowler and was in numerous leagues in Oscoda throughout the years. He also was a boy scout in his younger years which gathered at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Standing around night bonfires Jon could always pick out the constellations in the night sky.

Surviving members of his family are a brother Harry B. Johnson with a nephew Jessie J. Johnson and a niece April L. Johnson. A sister Mary L. Johnson with a nephew Kyle A. Johnson of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Burial will be private at the family plot at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Oscoda in the spring. Cremation arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home — Alpena.

To my brother Jon, you have endured many challenges in life, rest in peace brother! You will never be forgotten. Fond memories, your sister, Mary.
