JAMES LEROY KNORR

James Leroy Knorr, 94, of Hillman, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Insight Healing Center in Flint.

James was born on April 11, 1929, in Sand Creek, Mich. to the late Lester and Lois (Mason) Knorr. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On Aug. 20, 1949, he married Verna Fox. She preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 1993. He enjoyed hunting, baking, and cutting wood.

Surviving are his daughter, Jodi (Robert) Dines; two grandchildren, Emmalia, Alaini; brother, Fred Knorr, and girlfriend for 19 years, Marguerite Tachick, and her kids; Kathy, John, Barbara, Beverly, Bob.

James was preceded in death by two sons, Kraig and James Jr; and 12 siblings, Charlotte, Andy, Fred, Lillian, Phyllis, Leona, Josephine, Duke, Bob, Marg, and Elda Faye.

Visitation will take place Monday at Bannan Funeral Home in Alpena from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon with the Rev. Richard George officiating. Military honors will be accorded him by Hillman VFW Post 2356.
