IRENE M. CHRONIGER

Irene M. Chroniger, a cherished matriarch and a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully on Jan. 12, 2024, at the age of 104, in her hometown of Alpena, where she was also born on July 5, 1919. Her life was a testament to devotion, as she spent over six decades of marriage with her late husband, Ernest Chroniger, who preceded her in death, as did her beloved son Lenny and her siblings Ben, Evelyn, Virginia, and Christine.

Irene’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Pat Konecke, and her grandchildren, Jackie, Lori, and Rick Konecke, who will continue to honor her legacy by embodying the values she held dear. The void left by her departure will be deeply felt by all who knew her, yet her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.

Irene’s involvement with the Eastern Stars and her enduring membership at the Ossineke United Methodist Church were reflections of her commitment to service and faith.

Irene’s interests brought joy not only to herself but also to those around her. She relished the summer months, which she often spent traveling in her motorhome, creating lasting memories with her husband, children, and grandchildren. These journeys were not merely vacations but adventures that enriched her family’s life with experiences of togetherness and discovery.

Known for her loving nature and gentle spirit, Irene lived her life with a kindness that touched the hearts of many. She was a woman who built a home filled with warmth and affection, a sanctuary where family and friends always felt welcomed. Her gentle demeanor was a constant in a changing world, and her loving presence will be profoundly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 at Ossineke United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the service at noon with the Rev. Reeves officiating. Memorial donations can be made to Ossineke Methodist Church. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery
