DUANE AUGUST CADARETTE

DUANE AUGUST CADARETTE

Aug. 21, 1961 – Jan. 13, 2024

Duane August Cadarette, 62, of Hubbard Lake, passed away peacefully but suddenly on Jan. 13 at his home while snow plowing. On Aug. 21, 1961, Duane was born in Herron, to the late Joyce King (2017) and Don Cadarette. He was incredibly blessed to be parented for over 52 years by the last August “Pops” and Elsie “Grandma” Minke (2014). He is finally now able to rest “his old bones” and be with them again.

Duane graduated from Alpena High School in 1980 and completed vocational training at Alpena Community College. Duane in his early years worked with “Pops, Grandma and Ricky” on the Dairy and Chicken Farm. He became incredibly talented in car restoration and completed many between 1975 and 1985. He later worked for DJ Construction, Weyhauser and had his own snow plow business. In his later years, he became known as the “go-to” guy who could fix any lawn mower, tractor, four-wheeler, chainsaw and had his own little entrepreneur setup.

Duane was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, baptized in 1962, and confirmed in 1974 in his early years. Duane loved to fix mowers, cars, cut firewood, can vegetables, and grow both his outside and inside garden. He was always ecstatic to “show folks his garden (“wow”) and always wanted to give most away. He loved to run to Bob-A-Lu, The Depot, Joey’s and Hubbard Lake. Duane was blessed with many friends (Bill, Curtis, Jeff, Dan, Todd, Gary) and longtime girlfriend Penny. In recent years he loved to “hang” with his brother “Ricky” working on Grandma’s house, hunting, fixing and selling equipment, but mostly just chatting over a pot of stew remembering the younger years.

Duane is survived by his brother Rich “Ricky” (Laurie) Krentz, two grandchildren Kendra (Dylan Gallagher), Neal Krentz, one great-grandson Jordan, Aunt Dixie (Dan) Crevier, and cousins Niki (Kalisch) and Brian Crevier.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday at Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Llewellyn officiating. Family is requesting you write up and bring any “Duane” stories. Interment will take place later in the spring. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to The Friendship Room.
