Andrew Ryan Bunting, 45, of Alpena, affectionately known as Andy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on May 20, 1978, Andy's zest for life and his kind-hearted nature were evident from the start. He was a beacon of adventure and kindness throughout his 45 years, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Andy's early years in Alpena laid a strong foundation for the remarkable man he would become. He was the beloved son of Robert and the late Susan (Doyle) Bunting, growing up alongside his caring brother Matthew (Lynn) Bunting and his dear sister Lauren Bunting. His mother Susan, as well as his grandparents George and Betty Bunting, and Norris and Ruth Doyle, preceded him in death. They were, no doubt, there to welcome him with open arms upon his passing. Andy had a big heart which held love for his children, Alex and Bella.
Andy had a passion for the arts and music. He found solace and excitement in skiing, tennis, baseball, and fishing. His spirit for adventure also took him to the slopes, the courts, and the trails, where he enjoyed biking and hiking. Andy also enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions.
A celebration of Andy's life will be held on Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Alpena from 11 a.m. until the service at noon with the Rev. John Shipman officiating. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of choice. McWilliams Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
