WILFRED RAYMOND THIBAULT

Wilfred Thibault

June 1, 1929 – Nov. 1, 2023

Wilfred Raymond “Doug” Thibault, 94, a man of exceptional skill and boundless love for his family, was called to his heavenly home on Nov. 1, 2023. Born on June 1, 1929, in Wilson Township, Doug was the son of the late Edgar and Hazel (LaVere) Thibault. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and brother.

He married his beloved wife, Ann Timmreck, on June 24, 1950, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, laying the foundation of a family that would grow to include their children, Terry (Wendy), Raymond (Catherine), Mark (Gayle), and Kathryn (Patrick) Styma. His family expanded in love and number with the arrival of 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Doug was a machinist at Huron Portland Cement, where he dedicated 39 years of his life before retiring. His exceptional craftsmanship was not limited to his workplace; he was a gifted woodworker and a handyman who could make or fix almost anything. His creations were not only functional but also inspired with love and care, much like Doug himself.

In his leisure, Doug was an outdoorsman who relished the beauty and thrill of nature. His younger years were filled with the joy of baseball. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a proud member of the Thunder Bay Steelheaders, where he was able to combine his love for fishing and community involvement. He was also a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where he lived his faith through service and fellowship.

Above all, Doug was a family man. His love for his family was evident in his actions, his words, and his dedication. There was no role he cherished more than being a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Doug is survived by his sister, Helen Kendziorski. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Arthur, Howard, Robert, and Mildred Benning.

Doug is at McWilliams Funeral Home where family will receive friends on Nov. 3, 2023, from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Tyler Bischoff as celebrant. Memorial donations can be made to Alpena All Saints Church. He will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
