Richard F. Chelotti, age 69 of Clare, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023 at the MyMichigan Medical Center of Clare. On July 4, 1954, Rick was born the son of Richard M. and Vincenza (Galante) Chelotti in Chicago, Illinois. In 1972, Rick graduated from the Notre Dame High School for Boys in Niles, Illinois -- a suburb of Chicago. Shortly after graduating, Rick married Dawn Goorsky on July 7, 1973. Rick and Dawn moved to Alpena, Michigan where they began their family. Rick was very hardworking, he self-contracted as a flooring installer for over 20 years. Rick also discovered a lifelong love in cattle farming. In 2000, Rick and Dawn moved to Clare to be closer to family, where Rick eventually retired. He was an avid reader and loved studying history. He had a great love for hunting, especially with his son, traveling with his daughters and long trips with Dawn to the more remote parts of Italy. Those that knew Rick well, knew of his thirst and love for knowledge which he expressed through helping others with major home projects, but most of all his love of his family.
Rick is survived by his wife Dawn of Clare and his three children Rick (Erin) Chelotti of Dewitt, Andrea (Jordan Boylan) of Royal Oak, and Alissa Chelotti of St. Johns. Other survivors include his grandchildren Analise, Rickey, Will, Kai, Anthony, Reid, and Addison, his two sisters Mary (Mike) Smith and Anne Woolridge both of Illinois, his Aunt Joan Liliebladh of New Jersey and his best friend Mark Smith of Alpena. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Richard M. and Vincenza Chelotti.
A memorial service in honor of Rick will take place at the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Parish of Clare on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Francis Koper officiating. Friends may visit the Chelotti family at church on Thursday the 9th from 10 a.m. to the time of service. Memorial contributions in honor of Rick may be directed to either the St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Our Lady of Hope Parish.
