Gayle Zelma Jackson, 87, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena under Hospice care.
Gayle was born Nov. 11, 1935 to the late Christopher and Adeline (Yacks) Ellsworth. She married William Rollert Jackson, he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1999. Gayle graduated from Alpena High School in 1953. She worked at the General Telephone Co. as a teenager and young woman. At a later stage of her life, she went to nursing school and became an LPN. Gayle was employed as a nurse in Florida and for Hospice of Michigan several years ago. She loved going to the Alpena Plaza Pool and made many friends there over the years.
Gayle is survived by her son, Rocky (Michelle) Jackson, stepsons, Bill, Bob, and Dick, three grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
Per Gayle's wishes, there will be no memorial service. She will rest in peace at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Maple Ridge Township beside many of her family members. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
