DONNA LOU SMOLINSKI

Donna Lou Smolinski, 93, of Alpena passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at the Davison Family Home.

Donna was born April 5, 1930, in Alpena, Michigan to the late Thomas and Henrietta (Adrian) Atkinson. On Aug. 19, 1950, she married Edwin Smolinski. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2016. Donna graduated from Alpena High School in 1947, attended Alpena County Normal and then taught at the Greenwoods School. She retired from the Alpena Medical Arts Clinic where she worked as an insurance biller. Donna was a faith-filled woman who loved her family more than anything. She attended numerous music, sporting, and other events her grandchildren were involved in. Watching the birds, deer and other wildlife brought her great pleasure. Donna was a member of the United Methodist Church and its Joy Group.

Surviving are her six children, Kay (Charles) Kearly, Steven (Beverly) Smolinski, Ann (Mark) Skiba, Sue (Thomas) Adams, all of Alpena, and Terry (Susan) Smolinski of Chesterfield, Virginia, Nancy (Daryl) Seigneur of Sylvania, Ohio, 12 grandchildren; Brandt (Brenda) Kearly, Amy (Scott) Minton, Kelli Kearly, Thomas (Lori) Smolinski, Andrew (Kristine) Smolinski, Timothy Skiba, Kevin (Elizabeth) Skiba, Jaime (Leeland) Smith, Kimberly (Matt) Krawczak, Scott (Rachel) Adams, Rebecca (Aaron) Walston, Christopher Seigneur as well as 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Norman Smolinski, longtime friend Carol Evans and many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and her granddaughter, Jennifer Seigneur.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care Donna received from Sarah, Stephanie, Cindy and Theresa.

Memorial visiting hours will be held at McWilliams Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Leslie Nye officiating.
