Alan Robert Clute of Somerset, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by his loving family Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023 at 59.
Born in Flint, Michigan Oct. 19, 1963, Alan spent most of his growing years in Oscoda, Michigan and could always be found outside, where he fished, swam, shot hoops, and snowmobiled. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a young adult and would go on to serve 10 years earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon his discharge, Alan entered the construction industry, in which he spent decades as a respected foreman.
Alan never met a stranger and was kind to all. For his friends and family -- who knew him as Al, Big Al, or "Dude!" -- he would drop everything to help. Whether he was brewing a cup of coffee and calling someone just to chat or putting his craftsmanship to work for his "side jobs," Alan always found ways to make an impact on his loved ones' lives. He has left his mark on many decks, garages, and "remodels." His favorite season was fall and would often drive around to enjoy the changing leaves. As he pointed out nature's beauty, he would enthusiastically say, "check out that action!"
Alan was an incredible son, brother, uncle and friend. Most of all, he was the proud Air Force dad of Airman First Class James Clute, the light of his life. Alan had a special bond with his King Charles Spaniel adventure buddy Roxi, with whom he would travel to visit family and friends.
In addition to James, of Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, and Roxi, Alan is survived by his parents, Sarah and Robert Clute of Hillman, Michigan, and his sisters, Lisa Baker (Chris) of Atwater, California, Renee Grass (Mark) of Watauga, Texas, and Allison Clute of Waldorf, Maryland. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and very close friends, all of whom will dearly miss his bright personality and beaming smile.
Alan's arrangements are under the direction of Crescent Tide Cremation Services in St. Paul, Minnesota. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hillman, Michigan, with the Rev. James Siler officiating. Dates and times have not yet been set.
