WILLIAM J. KUCHNICKI
WILLIAM J. KUCHNICKI
William “Bill” Justin Kuchnicki, 81, born Oct. 22, 1941, died Sept. 16, 2023 at home peacefully surrounded by his loving family and with his strong faith held in the arms of God.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Harriet (Derry) Kuchnicki, and Thomas and Marge Kuchnicki, Al Deloge, Carl Nunn, Rosemary Kuchnicki, Dan & Enola Shea, and Bill LeRoux. He is survived by His wife of 60 years, Mary (LeRoux) Kuchnicki, the love of his life, siblings Jerry Kuchnicki, Marie Nunn, Jane DeLoge, Dick Kuchnicki, brother in laws James (Merlie) LeRoux, Thomas LeRoux, four sons, Anthony, Kenneth, Donald (Susan), Brad (Theresa), grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Young, Alison, Morgan, Justin, and Natasha, and one great-granddaughter Parker Young.
Bill was born and raised in Alpena, then moved to Petoskey for 40 years where he raised his family, made lifelong friends, and ran his business, Northern Concrete Products Company Inc. Bill was a devoted Catholic, and very involved with St. Francis Xavier church and school. He served on the board and was the acting president for many years of St. Francis X Credit Union. Bill belonged to many organizations, clubs, and associations sharing his wisdom and support. Bill and Mary returned to Alpena in retirement and were welcomed by family and friends. In retirement Bill found many ways to be of service to others, including transporting youth through the juvenile court.
Bill was a man with many hobbies and interests. He loved his gardening and sharing his produce with others. In his free time, you could find him listening to polka and country music, or watching his Detroit Lions football team, who he never gave up on. But what Bill loved most in his life was his Mary, his family, and his church. There is no better man, husband, father, grandfather, or great grandfather who walked this earth. His hugs and loving presence will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. A special thank you to Father Tyler Bischoff and Hospice Compassus for the compassion and support.
Memorial visitation will be at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Fr. Aloysius Okpala as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to All Saints Catholic School Children’s Tuition Fund.
