Jerome F. Hayes was born in Alpena, Michigan Sept. 30, 1936 to Florence Skiba and John Hayes. He passed away at the hospital in Littleton, Colorado on Aug. 20, 2023 He was employed at Martin Marietta in Colorado until he retired. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a Fourth Degree member of The Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed his retirement years working as a card dealer at casinos and many private parties where he brought good humor and laughter. He loved working crossword puzzles daily. He enjoyed living in Colorado and taking many vacations all over the world with his wife (poostie) Lee Hayes.
Jerome was survived by his wife Marylee Hayes of 61 years and his children Deborah McCarter, Barry McCarter (wife Caroline), and Catherine VanHeusden (husband Nick).
He was preceded in death by his mother Florence Hayes and his two brothers Richard and Eugene. He is survived by his beloved sister Carol Rude of Alpena and her children David and Tom; and sister-in-law Dixie Hayes of Alpena and her children Barbara Church, Kenny, Greg and Paul.

He loved life and his family of four grandchildren, Steve and Jim VanHeusden and Brad and Jerry Schubring. Along with his four great-grandkids, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He shared a very large family with this wife Lee, they loved and enjoyed them all. He leaves with each person a lifetime of shared humor, stories, and memories. Jerome was loved by everyone who met him.
Jerome was a lifelong Catholic and faithfully served the needs of the families of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in helping those in need.
There will be a memorial service for Jerome at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Littleton, Colorado Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m.
