DEBORAH ANN RITTHALER

Oct. 19, 1966 – Aug. 29, 2023

Deborah Ann Ritthaler, a long-time resident of Alpena, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer.

Born on Oct. 19, 1966, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Sylvester and Carol (Amstutz) Goodwin, Deb was a beacon of strength, love, and kindness to all who knew her.

Debbie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was known for her love of crochet, often creating beautiful and thoughtful gifts for her loved ones. An avid traveler, she relished the opportunity to explore new places and soak up the beauty of the great outdoors. She was a dedicated contributor to Friends Together, where she shared her passion for community and service.

Debbie was a devoted mother to her children, Ervin Jr., Matthew (LeAnne), and Devon, and loving grandmother to Ervin III, Evyn, Matthew Jr., Mikayla, and McKinley. Her love for her family was immeasurable and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is also survived by a brother, Duane Goodwin.

Debbie’s husband, Ervin Sr., preceded her in death on April 1, 2016. She carried his memory with her every day, living a life that honored their love and partnership.

Debbie had a fulfilling career at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. She was a familiar and comforting presence on the switchboard and as a housekeeper, where she worked for many years.

Debbie was a woman of many talents and passions, but above all, she was a loving and thoughtful individual. She had a knack for making people feel seen and valued, and her kindness was a beacon of light in the lives of many. She took every opportunity to lend a helping hand and was always the first to offer a word of encouragement or a shoulder to lean on.

In her passing, Debbie leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we remember Debbie, let us celebrate her life and the positive impact she made on those around her. Her spirit will live on in the memories we shared and the lessons she taught us about love, kindness, and the importance of family.

Family will receive friends at McWilliams Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Leslie Nye officiating. Memorial donations can be made to the family through McWilliams Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
