SHERRI KAYE JANSSEN

Dec. 27, 1968 – Aug. 7, 2023

Sherri Kaye Janssen, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, in Livonia, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Dec. 27, 1968, in Alpena, Sherri was known for her kindness, her creativity, and her loving nature. Sherri was the cherished daughter of Sharron Janssen and the late Richard Janssen. She was the proud and loving sister to Robert Janssen and Brandy (Jason) Lowell. Sherri was preceded in death by her younger brother, Bradley Gene Janssen. She was the adored aunt to Kristen, Ryele, Kiana, Taylor, Bradley, Tyler L., and Tyler V., and the doting great-aunt to Mavena, Noah, Gabrial, and Jaxon.

Sherri was a proud graduate of Alpena High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University. Her dedication to her education was indicative of her unwavering commitment and drive, traits which she carried throughout her life. She became a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), demonstrating her deep respect for those who served our country. Sherri was a woman of many talents, but she found her greatest joy in the creative arts. She was a crafty person who spent countless hours crocheting and cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces that brought joy to those around her. Above all else, Sherri cherished spending time with her family. Sherri was the embodiment of love and thoughtfulness. Her compassion was evident in everything she did, and her love for her family and friends was immeasurable. She had a gift for making people feel special and loved, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A celebration of Sherri’s life will be held on Aug. 27, 2023 at McRae Park from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.
