RUTH DOROTHY WEILAND

Ruth Dorothy Weiland, 84, of Hillman passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023, at MediLodge of Hillman.

Ruth Luetzow was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Alpena County to the late William and Eva (Mielke) Luetzow. On June 20, 1959, she married Erwin Weiland. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1982. Ruth retired from Hillman Community Schools in 1999 after 25 years. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Royston and active member of Hillman Senior Citizens and Montmorency VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving are her four children, Gary (Angela) Weiland, Kevin Weiland, Karen (David) Tyler, Eric (Aimee) Weiland; five grandchildren, Selina (Derek) Heussner, Carrie (Zach) Safford, Adam Tyler, Hailee Connor, Elizabeth Weiland; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Blake, Kendall, Harper; sister, Eleanor Strohschein; brother, William (Teresa) Luetzow Jr.; and brother-in-law, Tony Trapp.

Ruth was preceded in death by companion, Dale Villeneuve; sisters, Ida Mae (Hugo) Bruning, Wilma Trapp; and brother-in-law, Arthur Strohschein.

Visitation will take place Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Royston from 2 to 8 p.m. and continue there Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jason Mandley officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
