Leonard Keith Peterson, age 84, of Alpena, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Keith was born on July 25, 1939 in Spruce, Michigan to Leonard and Reta (McGuire) Peterson. He was extremely proud of his service in the US Army as a paratrooper and his time he spent driving truck. He married the love of his life, Shirley Schultz, on Sept. 30, 1961. Together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage and raised their five children together. In his later years, he loved teasing the little people in his life. The family will forever cherish Keith's wonderful sense of humor and his frankness.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Shirley, children Brian (Andrea) Peterson, Deborah (Jim) Jessen, Brenda (Mark) Bite, Michael (Wendy) Peterson, and Timothy (Kendra) Peterson, 13 grandchildren, six bonus grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 bonus great-grandchildren and two bonus great-great-grandsons. He is also survived by his siblings Elmer (Mary) Peterson and Barb (Tom) Hendricks, brother in law Rick (Lori) Schultz and Darlene Stevens, along with many nieces and nephews. Keith was proceeded in death by his parents, Leonard and Reta Peterson, brothers, Curtis Peterson, Ronnie Peterson and great grandson, Wesley Cole.
Cremation has taken place; a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 5, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ossineke. Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
