JUDY LYNN SCHILLER

Jan. 13, 1953 – Aug. 29, 2023

Judy Lynn Schiller, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away at home with her loving family at her side on Aug. 29, 2023 following a brave battle with cancer.

Born on Jan. 13, 1953, in Alpena, to the late Edward and Ida (Liske) Ritthaler, Judy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, passion for her interests, and a spirit of selflessness that touched all who knew her. Judy was a familiar and friendly face in the Alpena community, having served as a bus driver for Alpena Public Schools for 20 years before retiring in 2010. Her dedication to her work was evident, and she was widely respected for her commitment to ensuring the safe transportation of countless students over the years. In 1975, Judy married the love of her life, Herman Schiller, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herron. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home, where Judy poured her heart and soul into nurturing her family. Judy’s love for her family was immeasurable, and she found profound joy in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Judy was also a woman of many interests and hobbies. She was renowned for her cooking and baking skills, with her Christmas cookies being a particular favorite among family and friends. A lover of music, Judy often filled her home with the sounds of polka and old country music playing on her beloved vinyl records. Her passion for gardening was evident in the beautiful flowers that adorned her property, and she held a special fondness for hummingbirds, which she delighted in watching.

Judy is survived by her husband, Herman; her children, Dana (Jim) Moore and Jody (Tony) Kolnowski; her brothers, Edward (Carolyn) Ritthaler, Floyd (Cathy) Ritthaler, and Norm (Linda) Ritthaler; her sisters, Arlene Meyer, Diane Ritthaler, Betty Tolsdorf, Caroll (Mick) Kaiser, Gayle (Mark) Thibault, and Wendy (Terry) Thibault; her grandchildren, Trevor Moore, James Moore, Autumn Bayton, and Cole Kolnowski; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Thibault.
