Robert James Dion, 58, of Alpena passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

Robert was born Nov. 6, 1964, in Alpena to Philip and Sylvia (Sochacki) Dion. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years. Robert loved watching Michigan sports and hunting.

Surviving are his four children, Sarah (Nathan) Worth, James Dion, Allison Dion, Samantha Eis; two grandchildren, Nicole, Sophia; four siblings, Gloria (Dave) Lupo, Trish (Pat) Cronk, Paul (Joan) Dion, Mary (Dave) Nofftz; many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by two siblings, Richard Dion, Philip Dion; and the love of his life, Vickie Umphrey.

A graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery will take place Friday, July 28, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating and military honors accorded him by Alpena VFW Post 2496. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
