KATHLEEN RANISZEWSKI

Oct. 6, 1943 – May 20, 2023

Kathy passed away unexpectedly at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit on May 20, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Alpena, Michigan. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to Eugene Strickland and Lona (Krause) Strickland on Oct. 6, 1943.

She moved to Alpena when she was 16. She met the love of her life Dave Raniszewski at Alpena High School. They were married Aug. 8, 1964 at St. Mary’s Church in Alpena, Michigan. She is survived by her daughter Leona (Jan) Raniszewski in Warren, Michigan, and her son Thomas (Kristin) Raniszewski in Waupaca, Wisconsin. One sister Terri (Joe) McCarthy of Traverse City, Michigan. One brother-in-law John Raniszewski of Warren, Michigan. Her stepmother Eva York of Traverse City, Michigan, and two stepbrothers; Larry (Marge) Huber and Dennis (Mary) Huber of Michigan. Grandchildren, Logan Balke, and Dalton (Connie) Schroeder of Wisconsin and four great-grandchildren. She also had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She worked at Kmart of Alpena for more than 25 years and loved working with all of the people. She was married to her life long love Dave for over 50 years who preceded her in death Sept. 2, 2015. She loved living on Long Lake, spending time with family and friends, her dog Shadow, cooking and experimenting with new recipes, fishing, gardening, and canning most of their crops with her family.

Cremation has already taken place. A small private celebration of life will take place at her home on Long Lake on Aug. 5, 2023.
