GREGORY M. MISCHLEY

May 7, 1950 – September 3, 2022

Gregory Martin “Greg” Mischley passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, Sept. 3, 2022. Greg was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Corbin and Barbara Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Daleski) Mischley, sons Chuck, Douglas and Sean, brother Stan Mischley, and grandchildren Kennedy, Harper and Lennon.

Greg was born to Leo and June Mischley in Alpena, Michigan and graduated from Alpena High School with the class of 1968, earning his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan in 1972. After graduation, he began his long professional experience in many roles at General Motors, retiring as a Global Program Manager in 2012. His journey with General Motors took him from Detroit to two stops in Ohio (Dayton and Lordstown) before returning back to Detroit where he finished his career at the World Headquarters. During his time with GM, he traveled to multiple countries in South America and Europe, helping grow their international business.

He loved the outdoors and volunteered his time on cleanup projects; his favorite being the Clean Sweep of the Great Miami River in the Dayton area. Greg also enjoyed spending hours in his happy place — his hunting blind on his family’s land North of Alpena in the cool November air during deer hunting season.

Greg was quite active in his sons’ sports and musical activities throughout their lives. If he wasn’t coaching one of his son’s teams, he was there rooting them on. He also loved playing golf multiple times a week with his neighborhood friends and family members.

Greg’s friends and family knew he had a passion for travel and adventure along with his wife, Kathy. Their exciting experiences took them all over Europe, and all across America, as far north as Alaska, and including their most recent cruise down the Mississippi River.

Greg was intelligent, successful, adventurous, and an amazing problem solver. He cared so much for his family, and always acted with their best interests in mind. Everyone who knew him will remember him for his warmth and calming presence.

A graveside service will take place Friday, August 4, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
