George Lawrence “Larry” Bishop Jr., 78, of Hubbard Lake passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at his home.

Larry was born in Saginaw on April 4, 1945, to the late George and Sarah (Savage) Bishop. He attended and graduated from the University of Detroit as a mechanical engineer. Throughout his career he worked at GM’s Saginaw Steering Gear, CEC Products in Centerline and retired from Cornerstone Fabricating in Hemlock in 2019. He married Monica Joy on Dec. 12, 2012, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to the casinos.

Surviving are his wife, Monica; three children, Michelle (Brian) Bottke, Larry (Tammy) Bishop, Sarah (Rich) Lichtenfelt; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Shelly Marshall; brother, John (Lyla) Bishop; brother-in-law, Jim (Karen) Salesky; sister-in-law, Linda Bishop; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy; sister, Charlie Salesky; and a brother, Robert Bishop.

A celebration of life will take place at his home 5360 Mount Maria Road, Hubbard Lake on Saturday, July 29, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends Together.
