DEBRA LYNN SAMP

Debra Lynn Samp, 65, of Alpena, passed away at her home with her devoted companion at her side on Monday, July 17, 2023. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whom will be dearly missed by many. Debra was born on Aug. 17, 1957 to the late Melvin and Lois (Means) Samp in Alpena. She was a graduate of Alpena High School and enjoyed her life here in Alpena. Debra was a fierce competitor that was very proud of the many trophies that she earned while competing in pool, softball, golf, and bowling. Debra fought a 30-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis, during which, she spent many years volunteering in clinical trials with high hopes of helping to find a cure for this debilitating disease. Deb loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandkids.

Debra is survived by her faithful companion, Edward Timmrick, daughters, Rae Lynn Phillips, and Sarah (John) Nunez, four grandchildren, Justin Lindle, Tayla Lindle, Jacob Lindle, and Joshua Lindle, siblings, Barbra (Russ) Graham, Lee Daleski, Paula (Gary) Wickham, Joseph Samp, Vonnie (Pat) Niedzwiecki, Karen Cuddie, Gary Cuddie, and Billy Cuddie, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Charlie Samp and John Cuddie.

A celebration of life will take place at Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Inurnment will take place immediately after at Holy Cross Cemetery.
