BETTY JANE SOIK

Betty Jane Soik, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2022, in Alpena, Michigan. She was born on July 30, 1933, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Irvin and Leila (Bell) Miller. Her life was a beacon of kindness and generosity that shone brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
Betty’s life was marked by a profound love for her family and an unwavering dedication to nurturing those around her. She married her beloved husband, Eugene Soik, on June 2, 1951, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen, Michigan, forging a bond that would last a lifetime. Their love story was an inspiration to all, and their enduring commitment to one another was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family. Betty was predeceased by Eugene, whose memory she held dear until her last day.
Beyond her role as a devoted wife, Betty was a loving mother to her daughter, Deborah Kamm. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Mike (Heather) Mills, Paul (Bethany) Mills, T.J. Mills, and Eric Mills. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother, showering her grandchildren with love and guidance. Betty was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Betty’s sisters, Bonnie Proffer, Charlene (Joe), and Barbara (David) Coplai, held a special place in her heart. She cherished the bond she shared with her sisters and the countless memories they created together. Her family ties were a source of strength and comfort throughout her life. In addition to her love for family, Betty had a passion for reading and knitting. She found solace in the pages of a good book and took great pride in creating beautiful, knitted items for her loved ones. Her hands were rarely idle, and her spirit was always keen to explore new stories and craft intricate patterns.
Betty was known for her compassionate nature and her love for dogs. She was a woman of great kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her ability to empathize with others and provide comfort during difficult times was a gift that she freely gave to all.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at McWilliams Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until the memorial service at 12 p.m. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
