BARBARA JANE MANCE

Barbara Jane Mance, 77, of Black River, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Saturday, July 15, 2023. She was a kind, caring, and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend whom will be dearly missed.

Barbara was born on March 21, 1946 to the late Gus and Mary (Doughty) Pentoy. She grew up in the Highland Park area which is where she met and married the love of her life Dennis Mance. They joined hands in marriage on Feb. 27, 1971 in Highland Park, Michigan. After having and raising their children, they decided to make their way north and settle in Black River. Barbara loved the peacefully surroundings and enjoyed watching birds, doing arts and crafts, and on occasion playing bingo. She was also an active member of Spruce Presbyterian Church. But what brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Dennis, three children, Dawn (Michael) Bode, Kim Marie Mance, and Mark Matthew Mance, and two grandchildren, Michael (Mikey) Bode, and Victoria (Michael) Rothenberg, three great-grandchildren, Madison May, Lilliana Grace, and Arielle Eirene. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara has been taken for cremation from Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Online condolences may be registered at karpushuntercares.com.
