SALLY ANN DUMSCH
Sally Ann Dumsch (Platz) of Alpena passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 after a brief illness. Sally was born in Rogers City on Aug. 23, 1935 to the late Earl and Gisela Platz and was preceded in death by husband Bob Dumsch, and son Jeff Dumsch. She is survived by daughters Debbie VanMassenhove (Tom) and Tami Dumsch (Fred Reid), grandchildren Jaime Bieber (Shane), Ashley Repke (Jason), Mark VanMassenhove (Shannon Salaja), Jennifer Dumsch, and Dillon Reid, and great-grandchildren Rowen, Kaelyn, and Rory Repke.
Sally grew up in Rogers City where she met and was married to the love of her life, Bob. They were married for 67 years and moved their family to Alpena, where Sally raised her family and was the Office Manager at Farm Bureau Insurance for 35 years. She loved her sports. Bowling in the winter, and golf in the summer. She was a football fanatic, knowing more about the game then any armchair quarterback has a right to know. On any given Saturday or Sunday during the season, you could find her in front of her TV, yelling at her favorite team, telling them what they’ve done wrong, or shouting at the top of her lungs while her favorite players ran the field for a touchdown. Sally was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and nana. She loved her family fiercely and was always available for any need. She was rarely missing from her grand kids sporting events and in her later years she enjoyed helping out with her “greats” and watching their antics.
Per her wishes Sally has been taken for cremation with arrangements handled by McWilliams Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home. Register for online condolences at mcwilliamsfh.com. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan or All Saints Parish.
