PATRICK L. HOPPE

Patrick L. Hoppe, 87 passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Touch of Country Care Home.

Patrick was born on Sept. 3, 1935, in Cathro, the fifth child of the late Florian and Josephine (Antowiak) Hoppe. As a child he attended a one room schoolhouse and later graduated from Alpena High School in 1955 and attended Alpena Community College. Pat served in the Air National Guard for three years. He worked for a private company at Stoneport when they were building the crusher, later GM Buick Division until being laid off and returned to Alpena to begin working for Abitibi. On Aug. 30, 1991, he married Mary Ellen Godfrey. They would have celebrated their 32 wedding anniversary this summer. He enjoyed fishing and water skiing on Long Lake. He also loved hunting, any outdoor and yard work especially his garden near Mindock Creek. Pat loved to cook, especially his homemade apple pies, potato salad, vegetable beef soup and Thanksgiving turkey dressing!

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; children, Shari (Brian) Cloft, Matt (Cathi) Hoppe; four grandchildren, Chelsy Cloft, Jared (Taylor) Cloft, Danielle (Tom) Cloft, Caleb (Taylor) Hoppe; two great-grandchildren, Brynley Phillips, Bennett Cloft and baby boy due July 4; brother, Henry Hoppe; sister-in-law Leona Hoppe; brother-in-law Russ Godfrey, Greg (Colleen) Godfrey, Jeff (Debbie) Godfrey; and his canine companion, Samantha.

Mr. Hoppe was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Cloft; siblings, Eugene Hoppe, Genevieve Wojdan, Virginia Wikar; in-law, Donald and Mildred Godfrey; sister-in-law, Sharyl Godfrey; his canine companions Koko and Kasey.

Visitation will take place on Thursday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Tyler Bishoff officiating. Arrangement by Bannan Funeral Home.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
