HELEN JOYCE BULLIS

March 3, 1939 – June 11, 2023

Helen Joyce Bullis, 84, formerly of Alpena passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit surrounded by her family.

Helen Joyce McDonald was born March 3, 1939 to the late Leonard and Lucille (Kieliszewski) McDonald. Helen married the love of her life, Kenneth Bullis, on Aug. 24, 1968. They were married for 51 years and together they raised three children. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2019. She grew up working in her aunt’s restaurant (Tops Lunch) and later worked at Midway Market as head cashier and bookkeeper. She also worked at K-Mart as well as other jobs. Helen loved watching birds coming to her feeders and doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed reading a good book, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Jennifer (Dale Cox) Miller, Jenean (Doug) Robbins, Jon (Chantel) Bullis; five grandchildren, Bryon (Melissa) Miller, Alysha (Steven) Lukowski, Nicole (Michael) Przykucki, Trevor Bullis, Hanna Bullis; nine great-grandchildren, Rihanna, Avery, Lillian and Carter Lukowski, Autumn, Noah and Madeline Miller, Alexa, Matthew and Molly Przykucki; special cousins she was raised with, Marlene Wisniewski, Ken Dragiewicz, Joyce Sessler; sister-in-law, Marie McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Richard McDonald and infant sister, Rosemary McDonald.

Memorial visitation will take place Friday, June 23, 2023, at Bannan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until the memorial service at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Lingaur officiating.
