DONALD WALTER SZYMANSKI

Donald Walter Szymanski, 88, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

Donald was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Hamtramck, Michigan to the late Walter and Rose (Wietecha) Szymanski. On Jan. 25, 1991, he married Ruth Wilke. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2017. Donald was a member of Ossineke Eagles, Knights of Columbus, and Alpena Golf Course. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball, and basketball.

Surviving are his six children, Donald Szymanski, Karen (Michael) Kobus, Debra (Lawrence) Kudla, Keith (Valerie) Szymanski, David Szymanski, Kenneth (Cynthia) Szymanski; two stepchildren, Carol (David) Catron, Keith (Noreen) Tverberg; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother, William (Carol) Szymanski.

Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Szymanski; and stepson, Ralph Tverberg.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Alpena Eagles on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
