THOMAS PATRICK MURPHY
Thomas Patrick Murphy, age 74, passed away Feb. 15, 2023, in Arcadia, Florida. Mr. Murphy was born Aug. 28, 1948, in Alpena, Michigan to the late Vern and Helen (Kennedy) Murphy. Thomas retired from General Motors Corp. He also was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. Mr. Murphy enjoyed Red Wings Hockey, karaoke, golfing, fishing, “being the life of the party”, boating, camping, woodworking, and creating things out of PVC. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose, and the American Legion and VFW Post 3890.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara (Cloft) Murphy; one daughter, Kelly (Barry) Walton; one son, Bryan (Jen) Murphy; four grandchildren, Dakota, Sierra, Kody, Kiley; five step grandchildren, Chelsea, Kelsey, Kayla, Dylan, Davin; six step great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Rosalie) Murphy, Michael (Mary Jo) Murphy; one sister, Jane (Norm) Becker; brother-in-law, Brian (Shari) Cloft; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the American Legion Hall on M32 from 12 p.m. 3 p.m. with military honors by VFW Post 2496 at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements have been made by the Bannan Funeral Home.
