JULIE ANNE SHIEMKE
It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected death of Julie Anne Shiemke. Julie was born on Nov. 21, 1957, in Alpena, Michigan to Richard and Frances Shiemke. Also born on that day was her twin brother, Mark, who now resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife, Susan and family.
She is survived by her father, Richard “Moose” (Joyce Kaiser) Shiemke, her twin brother Mark (Susan) Shiemke; their family, and several aunts.
Julie had a normal childhood until the age of 5 when she was stricken with a life-threatening disease that left her paralyzed and mentally challenged. After 5 weeks in the U of M Medical Center and several months of therapy, she was now faced with obstacles not usually encountered in a person’s life. But she thrived. Julie became a sweet, lovable girl and woman who liked everyone, and they liked her.
In 1969, she graduated from McPhee School and was in the graduating Class of 1984 at Pied Piper School. For many years worked at NEMROC.
Being a “Daddy’s Girl”, she was given many, many wonderful life experiences of going places and seeing and doing fun things. She loved making jewelry, riding the rollercoasters with Dad, playing the slots at the casinos and getting her picture taken. Most importantly, she loved attending church and singing.
“Daddy’s Girl”, brought love and joy to her family the way God wanted it. She will be missed.
Memorial visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 noon with Fr. Michael Lingaur officiating.
