DENNIS ‘DENNY’ JOHN HUARD

Dennis “Denny” John Huard, 79, loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at home on Grand Lake (Presque Isle Twp., Michigan). Denny entered eternal life surrounded by family and supported with lots of love, care, and respect.

He was born on June 8, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Howard Huard and Jane (Altobelli) Huard. Denny graduated from Detroit Denby High School in 1962, then served in the United States Army, and was a proud Vietnam War veteran, being overseas during the Tet Offensive in 1968. Denny married Beverly (Carlson) Huard on May 28, 1967, and they enjoyed 56 beautiful and loving years of marriage together. Professionally, Denny was a skilled carpenter, and was a partner in Huard Construction in Detroit with his father Howard. Later, he specialized in trim carpentry and he worked for many years building and remodeling kitchens and bathrooms all across Metro Detroit.

Denny had a variety of lifelong interests and hobbies, including traveling and cooking, and he really loved to golf and bowl. He followed all the professional Detroit sports teams, but he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s teams compete in middle school, high school, and college. Yet he found his greatest joy simply spending time with his family and friends on Grand Lake, where he was always the most gracious and welcoming of hosts.

He is survived by his wife Bev and their three children: Jeff (Suzanne) Huard of Lansing, Michigan; Holly (Chuck) Borders of Lindenhurst, Illinois; Amanda (Matt) Coulon of Presque Isle Twp Michigan; five grandchildren, Andrew (Brittany) Huard, Carly (Kody) Bennett, Alex (Hannah) Huard, Kelsey Borders and Chase Coulon; and five great-grandchildren.

Denny will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched many lives with his kindness and grace. May he rest in eternal peace.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Malvina Stapnowski.
