ADAM JOSEPH LaFLECHE

Adam Joseph LaFleche, 45, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away of an apparent heart attack on May 26, 2023, at his home in Houghton Lake.

Adam was born Nov. 10, 1977, in Alpena, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Linda (Havermahl) LaFleche. He grew up in Hillman, Michigan, and graduated from Hillman High School in 1996, where he excelled as an athlete on both the basketball and football teams. Adam enrolled in the United States Air Force during his senior year of high school and attended basic training in Texas after graduation. He served as military police overseas in Turkey and Kuwait, with a significant portion of his active duty spent at Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia, where he once again found a place for his notable basketball skills. Ascending to the rank of Senior Airman E4, Adam received honorable discharge from the US Air Force on July 10, 2000.

After leaving the service, Adam started working entry level sales in the plumbing and heating industry with JE Johnson, eventually creating a very successful career for himself in that field. At the time of his death, Adam was employed by Munch Supply, where he held a senior sales position. Aside from the passion Adam had for his work, he also enjoyed several simple pleasures in life. He was an avid fisherman, with a special fondness for ice fishing. He loved hunting and owned a hunting camp with close friends in Gaylord, Michigan. When he wasn’t fishing during summer months, he was either golfing or relaxing lakeside.

More than anything, Adam loved his family and large group of friends. He communicated often with his inner circle, making sure to stay connected and lending an ear or helping hand to anyone in his life. He was a selfless worker whenever duty called or a loved one needed assistance, and he provided honest and respectful advice whenever he could. Adam was proud of the status he had achieved, but more than anything, he was incredibly happy that his large home was consistently filled with family and friends, creating countless heartwarming memories. He loved cooking, playing games and watching sports with his visitors, and always made everyone feel welcome and comfortable in his home.

Adam is survived by his parents Joe and Linda of Cypress, Texas; his sister Stephanie (LaFleche) and brother-in-law Jesse Schlak of Katy, Texas; and his brother Joshua LaFleche of Washington, Michigan. He also leaves three nieces, whom he loved dearly, Emily and Ashley Schlak of Katy, Texas, and Lorene LaFleche of Washington, Michigan. He is survived by several adoring aunts and uncles, many cousins, whom Adam considered brothers and sisters, and their children who fondly called him “Uncle Adam,” along with his closest and dearest friends.
