THEODORE ‘TED’ SCHULTZ

THEODORE ‘TED’ SCHULTZ

Theodore “Ted” Schultz passed peacefully on Monday, March 6 in his sleep after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. His loving wife Barbara was by his side, day in and day out, as she has been for 63 years. Ted was born in Alpena, Michigan on July 17, 1934, the son of the late Theodore and Anna (Buczkowski) Schultz.

Ted loved spending time and bragging about his family, especially the accomplishments of his six grandchildren who cherished him dearly.

A skilled craftsman who could build almost anything out of a block of wood and a table saw, Ted was also an avid puzzle builder for many years. Everyone in his family has decorations, pictures, toys, custom signs, framed puzzle pictures and household solutions “built by Dad.” Ted cherished the time he spent fishing “up north” on Hubbard Lake, hunting at the Back Forty hunting camp with family, friends and especially his oldest son, Kevin. He loved the smell, sounds, look and warmth of a real fire and could be counted on to have a fire going in the fireplace at home from early October through April and sometimes into May if Barb was still freezing.

Always a friend to strangers, he was loved by so many including those that cared for him in his final months. A “Wheel of Fortune” fan during the day, he also loved watching the Lions, Red Wings, and Tigers; and rooted for either the Wolverines or Spartans depending on which of his children Steven or Jenny were nearby.

He leaves behind his wife Barbara of Grand Blanc, Michigan; brother Don of Alpena, Michigan; son Steven, daughter-in-law Gail, grandchildren Kylie and Connor of Hampton, New Hampshire; daughter Jennifer McKay, son-in-law Jeff, grandchildren Dylan, Nellie and Jake of Grand Blanc, Michigan and grandson Hunter of Royal Oak, Michigan. Ted was predeceased by his son, Kevin of Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Grand Blanc, Michigan.
