NELSON LEE THOMSON

Lee was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Alpena to the late Nelson and Marian (Nicholson) Thomson. He was a lifelong resident of Alpena and graduated in 1965. He served in the Air National Guard. Lee was a member of Thunderbay Island Preservation Society, Coast Guard Auxiliary – Army Veteran. He loved to weld, enjoyed farming and tinkering, was a fan of John Deere. Lee was a friend to many people and never met a stranger.

Surviving are his three sons, Lee Jr. (Melanie) Thomson, Robert (Katie) Thomson, Kenneth (Darcy) Thomson; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Janice) Thomson; and sister, Sue (Jim Bluemer) Thomson.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Marian Thomson; brothers, Robert Thomson and David Thomson.

Visitation will take place Monday at Bannan Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. and continue Tuesday at Long Rapids First Congregational Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Arnie Kirschner officiating.

Interment: Long Rapids Township Cemetery or Long Rapids First Congregational Church
