Born on Nov. 30, 1934, in Alpena, Jim was the son of the late Arthur R. and Sadie Mae (Kennedy) Bromund. He was a proud high school graduate and dedicated his life to hard work, community involvement, and his family. Jim’s work ethic was evident throughout his life, as he spent many years working as a supervisor at LaFarge Corporation. Jim continued to stay active in the workforce, dedicating 15 years to working at the Alpena Golf Course. His commitment to contributing to his community did not end with his work, as he was also a longtime member of the Alpena Optimist Club and the Alpena Sports Hall of Fame.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Jim was passionate about sports and outdoor activities. He was an avid baseball player, known as “Lefty” for his pitching skills, and dedicated many years to coaching little league baseball in the area. Jim also enjoyed golf, hunting, and taking care of his neighbors by plowing them out during the winter months. His love for the outdoors culminated in the purchase of his dream home on Long Lake, where he spent countless hours enjoying the beauty of nature and the company of family and friends. Jim’s gentle, thoughtful, and friendly nature made him a beloved figure in the community and a cherished member of his family.

He is survived by his children, Jim (Diane) Bromund, Laurie Kierzek-Bromund, and Rob (Beth) Bromund, as well as 10 grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Derek, Jayne, Daniel, James, Sam, Emily, Kayla, and Elise. Jim also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Bromund, and his siblings, Bob, Betty, and Dorothy. Jim’s legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on through the many lives he touched during his time on this earth.

His unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to carry on his spirit of compassion and service. Jim has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time.
