JAMES PATRICK MUNN Sr.
CPO E7, James Patrick Munn Sr., 84, of Alpena, passed away March 29, 2023.
Jim was born Nov. 27, 1938 in Ionia, Michigan to the late E.J. and Pauline (Chambers) Munn. Jim spent 30 years in the Navy before retiring in Aug. of 1988. He was stationed in 11 different countries and earned seven good conduct medals. A few of his accomplishments included him being a linguist of seven languages, a cadaver diver, a Postmaster overseas, a marriage and troubled teens counselor, a security officer both on and of the base, as well as being a dive instructor for the Hubbard Lake Fire Department. Jim was an avid photographer, and enjoyed deer hunting, playing the saxophone, harmonica, and guitar. He collected knives, guns, coins, currency, and stamps worldwide. Jim will be remembered for his walk with Jesus, believing in the oneness doctrine, and having the Holy Ghost.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years; Michaelene, five children; Daniel, Barbara Munn-Ellison, Joanne Munn, Rodrick Calles, and Rebecca Calles, three siblings; Susie Munn-Wantland, Marilyn Munn, and L.J. Munn, his favorite aunt; Beverly Martenies of Rogers City, his best friend and mate; Clive Ansell of England, and his dogs; Mya, and Geovanni. He was preceded in death by his son; James Jr.
Family will receive friends on May 20, 2023 at McWilliams Funeral Home from 3:30 p.m. until the memorial service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Heath Haas officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow at the American Legion Post – Alpena from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
