David Ralph Karschnick Sr.
David Ralph Karschnick Sr., 82, of Alpena passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.
Dave was born June 11, 1940, in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Ralph and Betty (Strobl) Karschnick. On Aug. 20, 1959, he married Gayle Dragmiller. He served on the Alpena Municipal Council for 21 years, was past president of Alpena Country Club, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, current Alpena County Commissioner, past president of Alpena Softball Association, and elected to the Alpena Sports Hall of Fame.
Dave coached the Alpena Midget Travel Hockey Team, played softball, pool, bowling, and golf. He won the State Senior Golf Championship. Dave loved his friends in golf — Bill LaHaie, Jim Masters, and Tim Fitzpatrick and so enjoyed hunting season at Fitz’s Hunting Camp.
Dave was so very proud of his own David Jr. and Dave III’s 300 games in bowling and their holes-in-one in golf. He loved politics!!, Friends Together, and many friends at Guys Like Us. Dave just loved talking to anyone, even wrong numbers. By the time he hung up he knew where they were from and what their weather was like.
You were loved by many Dad, I’ll see you at the turn!
