Clare John Kaiser

Clare John Kaiser, 92, of Alpena passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Turning Brook Assisted Living Center.

Clare was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Alpena to the late John and Edna (St. Charles) Kaiser. He served in the United States Army, serving 14 months in Korea. On Oct. 8, 1955, he married Geraldine Henski. She preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2021. Clare worked at Besser Company for 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Eagles Club, Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree and the Color Corps, and Alpena VFW Post 2496. Clare was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, its building committee, usher club, and Eucharistic ministers. After retirement, Clare enjoyed working with wood in his garage making children’s stoves, cupboards, tables, and chairs.

Surviving are his four children, Thomas Kaiser, Susan (John) Stender, James (Carol) Kaiser, Debra (Arnold) Pokorzynski; five grandchildren, Jessica (Andrew) Wilson, Aaron Pokorzynski, Michael (Melissa) Kaiser, Michelle (Brian) Hasenkamp, Renee (Zach) Tanton; three great-grandchildren, Otto, Isla, Aven Wilson; sister-in-law, Doris Kaiser; several nieces and nephews.

Clare was preceded in death by his nine siblings, Louis Kaiser, Francis Kaiser, Robert Kaiser, Raymond Kaiser, Donald Kaiser, Adeline Kaiser, Agnes Anderson, Louise Lewis, and Theresa Hanner.

Visitation will take place Monday, April 10, 2023, at Bannan Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with military honors at 5 p.m. by Alpena VFW Post 2496, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Color Corp honor guard from 6 until the time of the parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, April 11, at St. John the Baptist Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Lingaur officiating.
