SHIRLEY HAKEN

Shirley Haken, 82, of Ossineke passed away at home Feb. 24, 2023.

Shirley was born Dec. 8, 1940 at home in Maple Ridge Township to the late Elwood and Hazel (Carriveau) Monnette. She later married Donald Haken on July 28, 1973 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alpena. She was a competitive person who enjoyed playing card games, and puzzles. She also enjoyed trips to the casino, picking strawberries, and country music – especially Loretta Lynn. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and a member of the Alpena All Saints Parish for many years. Shirley was a faithfully devoted wife whose sense of humor and kind heart will be dearly missed.

Shirley is survived by five wonderful children, Gwen Huelsman of California, Brenda Fochtman of Florida, Jeff (Barb) Bowen of Holland, Michigan, Todd (Anjie) Bowen of Alpena, and Brian (Sue) Bowen of Portage, Michigan, two brothers, Gary (Audrey) Monnette, Jim (Elaine) Monnette, four sisters, Faye Schroeder, Marjy (Rob) Gilmer, Connie (Alain) Hurdle, and Betty Monnette, eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her daughter, Pam Osborn, and her brother Clyde.

Shirley is at McWilliams Funeral Home where visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visiting will continue on Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tyler Bischoff as celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery
