RORY DIXON MORTIMER

He was born in Flint, Michigan, on Jan. 6, 1950. He was a resident of Alpena, Michigan for 20 years, previously residing in Summerville, South Carolina most of his life. Jane and Rory were married on July 25, 2003.

Rory was an attorney for more than 40 years practicing in criminal law, social security disability and bankruptcy. He was known by his clients as fair, compassionate, and knowledgeable. He would go out of his way to help someone in need of assistance. His business motto was “We solve problems.” He enjoyed golf and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Mortimer; children, daughter Melissa Mortimer (Scott Probst), son Ryan Mortimer; stepsons Adam(Amy) Ferris, Sean (Lindsay) Ferris; grandchildren Madeline Probst, Clara Probst, Hannah Ferris, Benjamin Ferris and Isaac Ferris; siblings Jeffrey Mortimer and Kenneth Mortimer.

He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth Mortimer and Phyllis (Rouleau) Mortimer.

Visitation will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church on March 24, 2023 starting at 9:30 am until the Memorial service at 11 a.m.
