MARJORIE GAYLE MATTESON

She was born on Sept. 26, 1932, to the late Lemuel and Ruth (Bailey) Homant. Marj worked as a secretary for most of her career. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, happy hour, and spending the winters in Orange Beach, Alabama.

She is survived by her children, Ann Matteson, Kristin (Paul) Conger, Scott (Connie) Matteson; grandchildren, Anna (Dylan Weir) Bass, Benjamin (Ellie Sims) Matteson, Flynn Conger, Jessica (Jesse) Lancewisz, Andrew (Dannyelle Janis) Phal; four great-granddaughters, Leilia, Logan, Aubrey, Madison; sister Marilyn Semones; and her longtime companion, Robert Smith.

Marj was preceded in death by her sister Bonita “Bonnie” St. Charles; brothers Donald, William, and James Homant.

A memorial gathering will be held at Bannan Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Marj will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena.
